Don't Worry, Nothing Here Will Hurt You — Live Recording with Jim Morris
Podcast recording event at University at Buffalo on September 26, 2024
Come check out a live recording of the Chrysalis podcast next Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the University at Buffalo. I will be in conversation with Jim Morris, who just published a powerful book about a cancer cluster among workers at the Goodyear chemical plant in Niagara Falls and how the chemical industry has evaded regulations and responsibility for decades—and how they continue to endanger workers and the public.
This conversation will be a very interesting follow up to my conversation with Lois Gibbs last year. Lois was sounding the alarm in the 1970s about the toxic chemicals under her home and community in the Love Canal neighborhood of Niagara Falls. Her husband at the time actually worked at the Goodyear plant. Jim writes about how Lois’s husband felt safer at work than he did at home in Love Canal—tragically, he was being exposed to dangerous chemicals both at home and at work. The book reveals how the chemical companies made their workers feel safe while neglecting to protect them from known carcinogens.
